About

La Società Maria SS. dei Sette Dolori (Society of the Seven Sorrows of Mary) is a Catholic-Italian organization founded on September 15, 2021. Under the patronage of the Sorrowful Mother, we seek to restore our religious and cultural traditions at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Denver, CO.

Our Mission

We are blessed to have such a great parish at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, rich in history and beauty, but it’s lost a few traditions over the years. La Società Maria SS. dei Sette Dolori was created to revive these traditions and inspire other Catholic-Italian societies to do the same. Examples of our Catholic-Italian traditions include:

  • Solemn High Masses: The full ceremonial form of the Tridentine Mass celebrated on major feast days, such as that of our own patroness - Our Lady of Sorrows - September 15th.

  • Processions: Solemn religious processions to celebrate major feast days. Candlelight processions the night before and a grand procession the day of following the Solemn High Mass.

  • Novenas: Nine days of prayer leading up to a major feast day held in the church.

  • La Tredicina di S. Antonio: Similar to a novena, but it involves thirteen days of prayer.

Our ultimate goal is to revive, promote, and help our Catholic-Italian traditions thrive well into the future. In order to do that, we need help. If you’re interested in reclaiming our spiritual and ancestral heritage, please fill out the form below. We’ll reply with an invitation to join our Google group.
